JANE ROSS says lifting the Scottish Cup this afternoon was the perfect way to call time on her professional career.
The 35-year-old was a second half substitute as her final act as a player was adding another piece of silverware to her lavish collection.
Speaking to RangersTV after getting her hands on the trophy, Ross said: “I thought we were brilliant all over the pitch.
“We were aggressive in the challenge and technically on the ball we created some really good opportunities.
“To win the game 3-0 in the end, it was comfortable and I thought we performed really well.
“There’s no doubt we were hurting last Sunday. And to respond in the way we have shows the character in the group. It’s really positive to end the season on a high.
“The team put us in a comfortable position, so it was nice to be able to get on the pitch, contribute, and finish by playing some minutes.”
Ross could have crowned her final afternoon as a player with a goal when she broke into space late in the second half, but she elected to feed Rio Hardy who spooned her finish off target.
The forward says she’ll reflect on her career when a quiet moment arrives and paid tribute to the Rangers supporters who backed the side through thick and thin this campaign.
She added: “Perhaps a few years ago I would have kept running myself, but I could see Rio [Hardy] and she was in a really good position, so I thought if I played it to her she would have a bit more time and space to run onto it.
“Unfortunately, it didn’t end in a goal!
“I’ll take some time to reflect on the career that I’ve had once everything settles down a little bit. I’ve loved it and I’m excited for the future.
“My message to the fans? I would say thanks very much for their support throughout the season.
“They’ve been there and been the 12th player for us in some games; keep following and supporting and hopefully the club keeps delivering trophies.”
