The teenager’s five-goal contribution helped lift the Gers into the quarter-finals of the Sky Sports Cup as she netted a hat-trick inside 28 first-half minutes in an eventual 12-0 victory over St. Johnstone in the Sky Sports Cup.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, a delighted Berry beamed: “I’m really happy on a personal level with my performance, and I thought the team did well overall in the first half. We got some great combinations and great goals out of it.
“I love scoring, and I probably could have had another few. I wanted to keep going, and I just love scoring for Rangers, so I want to keep doing that.
“In the back of my mind, I heard Andy [Thomson] say ‘go on, get another’, but unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time.
“The service was amazing. Some of the goals they just put on a plate for me; Mia [McAulay], Lizzie [Arnot], May [Cruft], Wilko, [Kim] Shin Ji, everyone on the pitch today was excellent. It makes my job easier.”
As well as the conviction within her finishes, Berry was the beneficiary of a steady supply of service from midfield this afternoon.
16-year-old May Cruft stood out once again, while summer arrival Kim Shin Ji laid on a couple for the teenager to add the finishing touch.
She added: “Shin Ji has been really good since she came in. She’s settled into Scotland very well, and hopefully she can continue the great performances.
“We know it’s a long season, and we’re going to need every single player. When you have new players and they settle in so quickly, giving those performances, it’s great for the team.
“At Rangers, there’s a big emphasis on winning trophies and [the League Cup has] been our trophy two years in a row. We’re going to continue and try to keep that.”
