Leanne Crichton’s side produced a fantastic display in the final SPWPL meeting between the teams this campaign at Broadwood yesterday, with a 4-0 success, seeing them claim the derby bragging rights for the fifth time in five meetings in all competitions this season.
Speaking to the official Rangers website to reflect on the day, having added the third goal of the afternoon, she commented: “I think all-round it was a great team performance.
“From the back to the front, we were consistent and straight from the whistle, we were getting at them, and I think that is what we needed.
“I think it is just the mentality going into the game.
“First half, it could have been three or four, we had so many chances, the football that we were playing is what we have been looking to play recently.
“We were just moving the ball slick, it was good and from the front, Lily coming into the team in an Old Firm, she was excellent, it was a whole team performance.”
Having claimed the win, Rangers have now taken the title race down to the final day once again, with two points separating them and leaders Hearts. Despite it being out of their control and relying on Hibs to claim victory in the Edinburgh derby, the striker says it is important the team focus on themselves and getting the job done in their respective match against Glasgow City.
She added: “Regardless of the result in the other game, we knew the game was a must-win.
“Obviously, that did add a bit of pressure [result earlier], but I think everyone stood up to the challenge.
“We will be relying on other teams; it is not in our hands, but I know that we are a strong team, and if we go out and put on our best performance, we will put ourselves in the best position possible.
“The final game is just about going in with no regrets. If something else were to happen in the other game and we don't do our job, then you'll regret it.
“We just need to go in with the same mentality that we did and get the three points.
“The past few years, it has gone to the last day, and we have been involved in that every single time.
“There are players in the dressing room who know what the pressure is like and know what we need to do; hopefully, we can come out the right side of it this time.”
