In Rangers’ 6-1 success at Links Park after falling behind early, the Light Blues responded well to mark the former Scotland international’s first competitive match in charge of the club with victory.
Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the opening day, she commented: “I am delighted with the victory of course. I think matchday one travelling up to Montrose it is never an easy place to come in terms of the battle and the game that they like to make it.
“We knew looking at Montrose, certainly they had recruited really well, they finished the season really positively last year. For us it is looking to try and find that rhythm as quickly as you possibly can.
“A tough game, certainly the start to the game probably put us on the back foot and something that we had to be prepared for, but I felt once we kind of settled into the game and obviously overcame that little bit of adversity early on, I thought the first half was a little bit sticky I think the pitch up here is new and different. The ball wasn't moving particularly well.
“We got them in at half time and speaking and trying to have them find a bit of composure and look to find solutions to the problems and I felt second half we managed to do that.
“Once we got into our rhythm there was a lot of positives in terms of the things that we have been looking at over the last number of weeks.
“It has been quite a whirlwind in terms of the time and the time that we have had on the pitch.
“You ultimately don't get time and it is about winning games and I felt we found a mentality in the second half that ultimately it was a bit of comfort in the end.
Crichton spoke of the positives in the attacking display from the Gers particularly in the second 45 minutes, with a mention to last season’s top goalscorer Katie Wilkinson for her opening day hat-trick.
She continued: “Loads of positives in terms of the players and the contributions all over the pitch looking for the wide players to really give us variation to the game and cause some problems.
“Obviously we have got a real good focal point in Wilko that we up there this afternoon and Kirsty [Howat] tucked in behind so you know you have got the ability to go and pin teams back. It is just about getting into the rhythm.
“The things that I am asking the players to do are slightly different to what was being asked last season and that is going to take a bit of time until we bed that in and we have enough time on the pitch.
“Ultimately games give you the opportunity to go and problem solve within that. We can now look at it, we can reflect on it and we can look next week at how we become better.
“Overall delighted with the points and the girls and certainly a lot of the positives in the second half.
“She has got absolutely an abundance of quality and know you that and set piece moments like that don't happen by chance. She works at that; she looks to try and create that. She has got an eye for detail, an eye for goal.
“As have a number of players within the team and that is the confidence that I want them to have is that they have got real belief.
“Whether it is set piece moments, individual moments or moments in terms of a team build that you can go and find the back of the net.
“There was real quality there I thought we could have added another three or four if we had just had that little bit of composure in the final third and probably a bit more attention to detail with the finish.
“It is matchday one and we need to be pleased with what we have that’s okay got.
The Gers were also boosted by further gametime for Liv McLoughlin as well as first minutes of the campaign for both Camille Lafaix and Kathy Hill, who marked her return with a goal and reaching a special milestone for the club.
She added: “We were probably a bit lighter coming up here today than we had expected. We are managing minutes we are looking to get bodies back on and really take care of them.
“We don't want to rush bodies; we don't want to them for any longer than we need too.
“The players have worked tirelessly to make themselves available and obviously Kathy coming in this afternoon in the second half.
“100 appearances for the club and she rounds that off with a goal. Those little moments are certainly the ones that you remember for her so huge congratulations to her.”
