The women’s side have had four-weeks to work with new manager Gregory Vignal, and Gemmell says they are relishing the opportunity to learn from the former Rangers left-back.
She said: “It’s been really good obviously Greg has come in and the intensity has been really good and the girls have all responded to him very well and working really really hard and you can see the benefits already.
Looking ahead to Sunday’s trip to K-Park, Gemmell is hoping Rangers can show how much they have improved in a short space of time.
She added: “I think we know it will be a really difficult game for us and as I said we have been working really hard towards the first game.
“I think it is about us trying to show how we have come from ending the first-half of the season and how we have improved and hopefully we can bring that into Sunday’s game.
Rangers sit fourth in the SWPL 1 after the first-half of the season, with Celtic ahead in third place.
Gemmell said: “We have always been looking to bridge the gap, not just with Celtic but obviously with Hibs and City and I think it is a vocal point for Rangers moving forward because we obviously want to compete and we want to win stuff.
The Gers captain is excited with the changes at the club as the women’s side have become fully-integrated in the football department.
She said: “It’s great to be part of something completely new for the first time in Scotland and we have been brought into the academy and it is just great to be training at The Hummel Training Centre four nights a week and playing our games here every Sunday.
