The 18-year-old played 90 minutes as Rangers won 2-1 against an experienced Clyde side in a friendly at Broadwood this afternoon.
After Clyde took the lead early in the game, second-half goals from Arron Lyall and Robbie Ure saw Rangers come back to win 2-1.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time MacKinnon said: "I think we played well, it is good to play against a first-team and I think they gave us challenges but challenges we dealt with.
"I feel the more we play against first-teams and get that exposure the more we are going to develop so it was a good performance from the boys today.
"The message at half-time was to press them more really and hit the ground running again and keep putting them under pressure but on the ball compose ourselves.
"I felt we did that and created chances and we tried our best to keep them quiet. We are only going to develop from it.
Gers have one more friendly before the start of the Lowland League season and MacKinnon can't wait to get the league campaign underway.
He continued: "I think this pre-season has been tough and having this exposure we are only going to develop and I think that is what everyone is wanting as an individual.
"I have enjoyed every minute of it, I just want to keep building on it and keep getting more minutes in the legs and I'm looking forward to the season.
"We are buzzing we are going to have a tough schedule but we can't wait for the league to start."
