Speaking to RangersTV post-match having scored the fourth goal in the victory over Partick Thistle in Edinburgh, the midfielder hopes the outcome can be a springboard for the team to challenge for further trophies in the remaining months of the season.
She said: “Was days like this the reason why you came up here? The aspirations that Jo has for the team was massive and part of me coming up here so it is just a really good day.
“This should bring confidence to the team to try win more in the coming months? Definitely, it was a good game to bounce back from last week so we are really happy and this will hopefully set us in good stead for the rest of the season.”
The 19-year-old reflected on the game itself and praised the side for their response having conceded a quick equaliser before ultimately going on to seal the victory with goals from Rachel Rowe and Rio Hardy, before rounding off the scoring herself.
She continued: “When they equalised we thought we shouldn't have let them back into the game. But we just went from strength to strength and to finish 4-1 we are really happy.
“That is what Jo speaks to us about and before the game she said our character and our team will get us through it and that is exactly what happened.”
McLoughlin was playing in her first career final on the day before getting her hands on silverware and says it an ‘amazing’ feeling to win it with this group of players and in front of her family who travelled up from down south to support her.
She added: “It is amazing, all the girls are really happy and we are really proud. It is a really good feeling for me and I am really happy. To do it with these girls it means the world.
“A lot of them came up today so I am really happy to get my first silverware.”
