The youngster, who only signed a professional contract with the club at the start of this season, found the back of the net on the way to a 4-1 victory at Tynecastle.
Speaking to RangersTV shortly after the victory against Partick Thistle in the Sky Sports Cup final, the 17-year-old shared her delight having picked up a trophy for the club she has supported growing up.
She commented: “I can’t really sum up the emotions I am feeling right now. I am just buzzing that I have got my first trophy under my belt and I think the girls were outstanding today.
“Obviously growing up as a Rangers fan I have always wanted to play for Rangers myself and I have been lucky enough to do that and to win my first trophy I am buzzing.”
The winger summed up the moment as she opened the scoring in the capital on the way to retaining the trophy with the Gers having won it for the first time in their history last season.
She continued: “I just remember Kathy playing it over the top and I have ran in behind. I knew there was people there for the pass but I seen Partick Thistle's keeper coming off her line so I just went for it and it’s went in.”
McAulay hopes the victory can be a springboard for further success to come this campaign as Rangers look to also add the SWPL title and Scottish Cup to their trophy cabinet.
She added: “You see that we have gone all the way to March and we have not lost a game. We have obviously lost but I think that shows what this team is about. We have bounced back and we have won a trophy.
“I think we have shown today what we are about and I am sure we are going to go on to do great things.”
