STRIKER Lizzie Arnot says she is excited at the prospect of writing her name in Rangers’ history books after making the switch from Manchester United.
The Scotland international joined the Gers during lockdown after being impressed by the ambition and professional set-up of the women’s programme.
With a few weeks of training under her belt, the 24-year-old says she already feels at home in Glasgow.
Speaking to RangersTV she said: “It is great, I am really enjoying it, I feel right at home.
“It has helped knowing a few of the girls coming here but even the ones I didn't know it is just a really nice environment to be in.
“Everyone is really excited, the fact that we have not played for so long, it has been such a long wait.
“It is just that anticipation now and we are excited to get going.”
Arnot moved to Manchester United from Hibs in 2018 to become part of their first ever professional women’s side, an experience which she hopes will benefit her at Rangers.
She continued: “Being a part of the first women's Manchester United professional team was amazing and they are putting a lot into the women’s game and credit to them for doing that.
“Comparing it to here I think Rangers are going the right way as well and you can see the professional set-up is great and being in and around the training ground is really positive.
“It was nice getting the opportunity to come back to Scotland. The whole professional set up and environment, the squad and the vision Rangers had was really encouraging and I just wanted to be a part of it.”
Down south the forward marked her place in history scoring the first ever goal for the United’s women’s side in a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the FA Women’s League Cup.
She continued: “There's not been a professional team at Rangers and I think there is expectation on us to do well but that is another reason why I came here.
“I wanted to be part of the history of it and to be part of something big and a project that can really go far, so it is exciting.
“Hopefully, having been part of a professional set-up before and dealing with that and being with Scotland I'm hoping I can help others around me and use that experience on the pitch as well.”
