The Young Ger showed tremendous persistence and a cool finish to match to seal all three points in a testing encounter for David McCallum’s side at Ferguson Park.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game, Lovelace reflected on his all-important strike: “It wasn’t our best performance. We’ve played better and we’ll play better next time. Scoring the winner is always a very good feeling.
“The ball came through to me. I thought that the defender touching it gave me the extra space to get infront of him and tuck it into the bottom corner.
“The wind definitely stopped a couple of my runs! When the ball is hanging in the air for too long it gives more time for the defenders to header it down so it played out of our hands.”
The victory maintained the Light Blues’ impressive start to the Lowland League campaign and Lovelace says he’s relishing the challenges that lie ahead for his side, starting with the trip to Liverpool in the UEFA Youth League in midweek.
He added: “[These matches] will benefit us a lot. It makes us adjust to the conditions that we’re playing in. It makes us better players as well and it helps our progression.
“I’m looking forward [to the game against Liverpool]. I’ve played against them once, but playing against them in the UEFA Youth League, it should be a good one.
“I just need to continue my performances, helping the players around me as well. Feeding off them, and feeding them too. And just go out and win the game.”
