An early goal from Andrew Dallas and a second-half strike from Jamie Barjonas helped the young Rangers side to victory.
Lovenkrands was pleased with the way the team competed against a strong side.
He said: “I am proud of the boys coming up against a League Two team in England who are a very physical team, they have had some really good results in pre-season so for us to go and get a win and a clean sheet is really great for the boys.
“I thought they dealt with the physicality of the game really well.
Rangers went ahead after just nine minutes as Andy Dallas opened the scoring, a goal which Lovenkrands feels settled the team into the match.
He said: “It was a really good build up to the first goal, the play through and the passing and then we had a wee bit of luck with the slip through but credit to Andy Dallas to realise it and take a gamble on it and going on and finishing it so it was a really good start for us.
“The movement off the ball was really good and the movement for each other was really good. We trusted each other with the ball and the defending was really good as well.
“The goal in the second half from Barjonas he’s just got that in him. I told him so many times that he needs to shoot more because he has got that in him.
“His goal was a really really good goal and from then on I think we looked comfortable.”
Rangers made six changes at half-time and Lovenkrands praised the players for adapting quickly.
He added: “We had a lot of changes with the substitutions we put on and trialists coming on as well which is not easy but a lot of credit goes to the players as well for dealing with that and making sure the game still flowed the way that we wanted it to and I think they have done themselves really proud today.
“I have been so pleased with the boys over the start of pre-season they have been very very strong. All the first teams we have played we have won every game and looked good.
“They are buying into what we are about here at the Academy and it shows on the pitch today. We have come up against a top side and a good difficult side to deal with but I thought the boys done really well.”
