The midfield man netted the second goal to give his side the much-needed lead at the half time break this afternoon, as the squad looked to bounce back from the challenges faced midweek in Naples.
Lundstrum reflected on the Gers’ winning performance and reiterated the togetherness and resilience shown by the team to attain another key three points.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV following the squad’s win, he said: “I’m really happy, it’s another step in the right direction in the way we want to be. Today we showed that we can play in the way that everyone in the stadium wants us to play on the front foot, we’ve been trying to play that way but today it clicked – we’re happy with the result.
“We’ve shown intensity in other games as well, Napoli and Liverpool at home we were good intensity wise for the first 60 minutes. They showed their quality in the end, but today we stuck in and went right to the 90 minutes and we were creating chances right until the end.”
The versatile midfielder reflected on the importance to gain the victory today but emphasised that the Ibrox support was a key in rallying the players to fight back and gain the win.
He continued: “I thought there were some massive performances today, but I think the most important one was the 12th man in the stands. It’s a tough place to play when things aren’t going your way, we know what the fans want - they want intense forward running and passing.
“We hadn’t been giving them that as of late, for us to do that today and for them to back us and clap us off at the end was very satisfying – we need them with us moving forward to be with us .
“It comes from us to lift them, and we know that, but at the same time we do need them sometimes when the chips are down to help us through games. They did that today when we were 1-0 down, they were right behind us and that’s what we need from them.
“All the chances that we created, it could’ve been six or seven but in other games we hadn’t created as many chances so that was quite satisfying and the momentum was very pleasing.
“We know some of our performances haven’t been great, but our league results haven’t been too bad. I know that we drew against Livingston, but we were fine in the league up until that point, we’re back on track now and let’s have a good run.”
