Malky Thomson: A Controlled Performance

MALKY THOMSON feels Rangers put in a controlled performance this evening as they beat Hearts 4-0 at Rangers Training Centre.

A double from Lizzie Arnot and goals from Zoe Ness and Sonia O’Neill saw the Light Blues pick up three points in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.

Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, Thomson said: “I think we got the result and we got the three points and ultimately that is what we want out of the game.

“I thought we controlled the game but I thought there were a lot of times when we gave the ball away unnecessarily but credit to Hearts I think they have really improved from when we first played them. They look a lot more organised and they gave a good account of themselves.

“We got the early lead and we were talking about in the previous games that we kind of chased the game a wee bit as opposed to tonight where we totally controlled the game from start to finish.”

Thomson says the squad will be back in training tomorrow morning as they begin preparations for Spartans on Sunday.

He continued: “We know we have got players that can come in and play any time so it was a good exercise in terms of giving them some minutes and also giving the guys that have been starters in the previous games giving them a bit of a rest.

“We'll start our preparations just now, some of them have done a couple of extra runs tonight, we'll be in tomorrow, we will do the same and we'll turn it around ready for Sunday.”
