Malky Thomson Disappointed At Defeat

MALKY THOMSON was disappointed as the Gers lost their first game of the season to an injury time penalty.

Summer Green's 92nd minute penalty saw Celtic leave Rangers Training Centre with the three points, and the Gers boss was always expecting a close match.

Speaking to RangersTV after the game, he said: "I think it was always going to be a hard game, there was always going to be one goal in it.

"The longer the game went, we started to get into forward areas where I thought we might nick a goal here and then unfortunately they had about three corners at the end of the game and we gave away a penalty.

"We are delighted with the progress the girls have made, it is early on in the season we have got another twice to play each other so it is positive.

"I think we always will feel we should have got something from the game. When we put as much effort and application not just into the game itself but the training week leading up to it is disappointing to lose but that's football.

"When it comes down to these games it can go either way.

Thomson says the group will remain positive as they look to bounce back next weekend.

He continued: "I think they grouped together after the game there and they were disappointed in the result and there was a bit of anxiety in about them when they are talking but positively.

"Looking forward to next week when they come back in and get at it again."
