The Gers will take on the league leaders at Broadwood in the final game before the winter break.
Glasgow City have dominated the Scottish game in recent years - winning the SWPL title for the last 13 season - but Thomson is looking forward to the challenge ahead of his side this weekend.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “It is going to be entertaining, I think it will be two good teams going at it and desperate for the points.
“It can be a challenge, when you have got that dominance it is that one where if you keep winning it is hard to stop it but certainly we'll be going about it with our own game plan and style of play.
“I think we have a confident group, with the characters we have in the squad the confidence levels are sky high so it is good for Kevin and I to be working with a squad of players like that.”
For last weekend’s 9-0 victory over Motherwell the Gers boss made five changes to his side and was pleased with how quickly the squad adapted.
The match also saw Megan Bell return from injury to start and score in her first match in eight months.
Thomson continued: “I think the positive bit from that is we knew from day one as a group and squad we are in this together and you need a squad of players to play.
“You need to have a squad that has a bit of depth and balance so the objective was that we would be carrying a squad of players and you would be selected for certain games.
“It is not just about competing for a jersey it is about keeping yourself at an optimum level to be able to be selected for whatever game you are asked to come in for.
“Megan Bell is a young, enthusiastic, athletic wide player who is exciting to watch in training and she took that onto the park on Sunday.
“Her rehab had gone seamlessly so credit to Eilidh Rutherford (physio) and to Emma Traynor (sport science). It was really pleasing to see her come back and contribute.”
