Goals from Kirsty Howat and Sam Kerr saw Gers take all three points at Broadwood Stadium in the final match before the international break.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game, Thomson said: “I think the major bit today was just to get the three points and we played some really good football.
“We started really slow in the second-half but quickly got to grips with it and managed to get some valuable minutes into some players that have been sitting on the bench over the last couple of weeks.
“The girls understood tactically the ability that the team have when they create real width and get runners in beyond and the first goal was a perfect example of that.
“We have kept width on the right-hand side and Chelsea [Cornet] has made a great run inside it and put the ball in for Kirsty [Howat] to score and it was testament to what we have been working on all week.”
Thomson felt it was a strong display all-round, as he praised the players for their work rate off the ball.
He continued: “I think it was a good performance all round from everybody. Even the guys coming off the bench, they made a real impact and a real difference and that is what they have got to do when they play with Rangers.
“There was a lot of tireless running from the players off the ball especially in the last 20 minutes of the game when we really opened them up.
“It was great to also keep a clean sheet. Hannah [Davison] came back in at centre-back and we know what she can do, she is brave and her and Kathy paired up well, as they have done in previous games.”
