Jane Ross netted a hat-trick on her debut, with a Sam Kerr double and goals from Lizzie Arnot, Brogan Hay and Rachel McLauchlan rounding off the scoring.
However, despite the dominance this afternoon Thomson said the squad will continue to push to the next level as they approach a busy period of fixtures.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time he said: “It’s a pleasing start, I think we totally dominated the game and it is great to get back to competitive football and get a result.
“We really kept good possession of the ball and we were purposeful but probably if we are going to split some hairs we could've moved the ball much quicker which would've then created more chances for us.
“In the opportunities we did miss we really need to be getting ourselves sharp but that will come through games.
“You have still got to beat the opponent no matter who it is and with respect to Queen's Park today I thought they gave a good account of themselves but I think the level our players are at just now and the competition levels that are at the club it showed in our play.”
Thomson was delighted to welcome Demi Vance back in the squad as she played the final 30 minutes. The Northern Ireland international has been out since November 2020 with an ACL injury.
He added: “It is great to get Demi back, she has worked really hard and has a focus and determination to come back from that injury in a timely fashion so good for her. She got 30 minutes under her belt and we look forward to the next game.”
