Report: Rangers B With Late Win Over East Kilbride

RANGERS B picked-up three points in this afternoon’s Lowland League match against East Kilbride.

Goals from Tony Weston and Adam Devine secured the 2-1 victory at Dumbarton’s C&G Systems Stadium.

David McCallum made two changes to the starting line-up with Lewis Budinaukas in goals and Charlie McCann, who made his debut for the club.

Rangers B Team kept most of the possession in the first 45 minutes of the game, creating effective play and multiple chances.

East Kilbride were awarded a free-kick in the young Gers final third in the early minutes of the match. James Stevenson stepped up with a powerful strike but the ball landed safely into the arms of Lewis Budinaukas.

Rangers nearly opened the scoring a few minutes later after brilliant play from Alex Lowry who flicked the ball behind to Robbie Ure in a congested box. Ure couldn’t quite get the strength behind it, so touched it forward for Tony Weston but his strike was collected by the visiting keeper.

Not long after, Weston broke the deadlock for the Light Blues after a powerful strike from outside the box went flying past the defenders hitting the back of the net.

Lowry continued to build the momentum for the squad and made an excellent run moving past numerous white shirts making his way into the box but the keeper managed to get a hand on the ball and was cleared by a defender.

Ure nearly made it two for the home side after Charlie Lindsay made a fantastic drive down the right wing to deliver an effective ball to Ure, however his foot was just unable to connect with it and was then cleared by a white shirt.

East Kilbride almost evened the score line after a corner in the Rangers final third but Luke Kenny’s shot was wide of the net.

The visitors equalised in the second half after Neil McLaughlin took a strike in the Rangers box and Budinaukas was just unable to get a hand to it.

Lowry nearly put the Light Blues in the lead again after taking a free kick from just outside the box but it was just inches wide of the post. The team had another opportunity to take the lead again after Weston took a shot from inside the box, but the ball fell wide of the net.

The second goal was coming, and it came from Adam Devine in the latter part of the second half. Devine made an excellent drive down the right-hand wing cutting into the inside of the visitors final third, he took a strike just outside of the box to make it two for the home side.
