The Gers boss was pleased as his side settled into the rhythm of the game and showed patience to get the opening goal.
Chantelle Swaby broke the deadlock on 20 minutes before Chelsea Cornet, Zoe Ness, Lizzie Arnot and a double from Kirsten Reilly rounded off the scoring.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game, Thomson said: “We spoke about getting performance levels and about getting into a rhythm, it took us a wee while at the start but we were confident that once we got into our stride the performance would take care of the game and that's what happened.
“Motherwell were an organised and committed team and made it difficult for us and we had to be really sure on the ball.
“That is 17 goals in two games so I think it is all down to performance levels and the way that we are playing. We are creating chances and we are converting those chances so it is pleasing.”
With another five outfield substitutes used this afternoon, the Gers boss was delighted with their second-half impact and the adaptability of the squad.
He added: “I thought in the second-half after we put on the finishers it definitely upped a level so it is good to see that come through the squad.
“They are all playing with a purpose and it is evident even when they are training. There are no sad faces and they are all desperate to get on the park whether it is five minutes or 90 minutes.
“We have faith and belief in every player. We spoke about there being two players for every position and players being able to play in different positions.
“We had a right-back in Emma Brownlie playing on the right-side of the front three and we've had Sam Kerr playing through the middle as a 10 or a 9, so it is good for the squad.”
