The Light Blues put four past their rivals at Ibrox today, meaning they are unbeaten in the fixture in a season for the first time since the 1999-00 season.
It meant so much to Roofe who again showed his quality in the big moments, and he told RangersTV: "One thing I have realised coming up here is the Old Firm is very important!
"The last four or five weeks have maybe been disappointing, so to get the 4-1 today is massive.
"It has been frustrating for me with injuries, suspensions and stuff off the pitch, so I have channelled all the focus on this game, and thankfully I managed to get two goals and win the game."
Roofe’s first saw him turn in a dangerous Ryan Kent ball with his chest, before he rose superbly to nod in a wonderful Borna Barisic cross in the second half.
Roofe continued on the first: "It was to make sure I was ready as anything can happen in the box - I needed to be on my toes and just anticipate things.
"I managed to get my chest on it and it went in. Then the second one was about getting the ball out wide to Borna and we all know his quality so I just needed to make sure I made the box and not get marked or picked up and he found me.
"I'm not the biggest in the box and I can't afford to be touch-tight with the centre-backs and get held, so I need to make runs and time my runs perfectly.
"For that, I need the service as well and the service Borna gave me was unbelievable."
Roofe also spoke about the standards at the club, and how the players got themselves over the disappointment of last Sunday to turn in such a fine performance today.
He added: "I think that shows how well we have done this season. We have achieved a lot and only lost three games all season - I'm not sure what past seasons have been like but I can't imagine them being this good.
"The fact we are still disappointed, I think that is a credit to us."
