Malky Thomson Praises Professionalism

MALKY THOMSON praised the professionalism of his side as Rangers progressed in the Scottish Women’s Cup with a 14-1 victory over Stenhousemuir.

It was a strong attacking display from the Gers, which saw nine different goalscorers at Ochilview.

Speaking to RangersTV at full time, Thomson said: “The pleasing thing for me was they kept the professionalism, they kept doing the right things at the right times and they kept their own standards up.

“We demand that we don't just heavily rely on our strikers to score the goals, especially the way we play. It does create chances for midfield players and even full-backs to join in.

“They have come back from the winter break with a real positive mindset, we are still a wee bit away from where we should be in terms of fitness but we have had a good week.”

Thomson praised the way the experienced players and young Academy players worked together in a real squad performance.

He added: “The way the older players joined in with the young players there's a real cohesion about them and we just all want to do well for the club.

“It shows there's a level of player there in the Academy, we are introducing them to training regularly so the club is in a good place in terms of youth development.”
