Lizzie Arnot’s 85th minute goal was the difference at Meadowbank as the Light Blues picked up another important three points in the Park’s Motor Group SWPL.
The Gers boss was delighted with his side’s approach to the match as they kept pushing for a goal at Meadowbank, and eventually got their reward.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, he said: “I don't really think we got into our stride at any point in the game, we created numerous chances but again we just failed to score but I am pleased that this group, once again, have found a way to win.
“We have spoken about it all season. It is about being relentless and that's what they were, it was the relentless attitude towards the end that managed to get the goal. There is a never say die attitude from them all, it is difficult just now, the games are thick and fast, but I am immensely proud of them, they have got the three points and we move on to the next game.”
Thomson said the squad found it difficult to break Hibs down and said he challenged the players at half-time to get forward quicker and earlier.
He added: “The Hibs group are hard to break down, they are well organised, they were suffering a lot of injuries but Dean has got them well healed so I am just delighted to get the win and get the three points.
“We knew with their shape that we could get around, we could play around them, and it was just a matter of getting the ball forward quicker and earlier and creating chances to score.”
The Gers boss was pleased by the squad effort, and the impact of goalscorer Lizzie Arnot and Megan Bell who came off the bench to provide the assist.
He continued: “Lizzie is a professional, she suffered an ankle knock that took a bit of time to heal up properly but now she is flying and is ready to finish the season strong.
“I've nothing but admiration for them all, we asked Megan to go and play centre forward, it's not her position and not her desired position but again on the pitch she has played the last 15 minutes and she has managed to get two or three attempts at goal as well.”
