Malky Thomson: We Showed Character

MALKY THOMSON believes his side showed ‘character and resilience’ to come from behind to pick-up three points against Hibernian this afternoon.

Second-half goals from Lizzie Arnot and Jane Ross secured a hard-fought victory in the Park’s Motor Group SWPL 1.

Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, he said: “I think first and foremost we got the job done and it is three points.

"I don't think we played anywhere near the way we have been playing in previous games but that is the first time we have went 1-0 down and we have showed good character and good resilience.

“We knew that was going to be the case and in fairness to us after half-time the girls went out and managed to get the penalty kick and then Jane Ross showed a good bit of skill to score a fantastic finish.

“There was no panic, we have absolute faith and belief in ourselves. We work ever so hard during the week and in training and we just keep sticking on that.

“When we eventually got the lead you could see we were still creating chances and we could've got the third and possibly a fourth after that but credit to the players and their defensive structure.”

Thomson says the hard-work on the training pitch will continue as they look to improve the performance ahead of Aberdeen next weekend.

He continued: “It is time and effort, we spend a lot of time with each other in training and we spend a lot of time on analysis.

“Michael does a fantastic job in terms of clipping training and individual clips and I'm sure he'll be back on it next week and how we are going to improve and put a better performance together as a group.”
