The Gers captain believes patience was important as the Light Blues searched for a route back into the game.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, she said: “It was a hard-fought win, credit to our forward players especially for not giving up on a few of those plays so I am really proud of them and the whole squad.
“I think we did start the game quite well and then Hibs had a spell where they were on top for a bit and they had a lot of energy.
"They had a game plan obviously going forward and we were struggling to solve that so half-time was just kind of talking through some of those points and what we could do better.
“We haven't gone down before and came back to win in a match so I think it is something we proved to ourselves that we can do going forward.
“We just need to work a bit harder to not be in those situations but I think the girls really believed in the second-half.”
With the return of a number of players to the matchday squad in recent weeks including Rachel McLauchlan, Nicola Docherty, Sam Kerr and Megan Bell, Westrup feels that can only benefit the squad going forward.
She continued: “In the past couple of weeks we have had some girls in and out with injury and illness and stuff like that so just getting a full strength squad at training this week was a blessing.
“Having people fighting for spots and competition is only going to help us going forward.”
