The triumph extended the Gers’ winning run in 2024 to nine successive victories, scoring three times for the second time in four days.
It was also a contest to savour for January arrival Mohamed Diomande as the Ivorian midfielder marked his first league start for the club with his first goal.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, Clement commented: “Oscar [Cortes] had it last week, winning the Man of the Match award, and Dio had that today
“It shows how fast the new guys have integrated into the team. All credit to the boys in the dressing room who have welcomed them really well.
“You can see that it’s a really good environment at the moment and people can settle in really fast and show their qualities.
“It was a pitch that was really difficult to play good football, to play the combination play that the lads have enjoyed in the last couple of weeks, so we had to adapt.
“But it was important to show resilience, focus and concentration in order to adapt, to show that we’re a team that not only play one kind of football but all different kinds that are necessary in these circumstances.
“I’m really proud of all the team; not only the starting XI but also the boys who came off the bench. They gave a lot of energy and quality to the team.
“It’s a road that we need to continue doing and what we’ve been doing in the last weeks and months.”
Diomande’s opener was the only real moment of quality in a first half derived of edge-of-the-seat action due to the pitch.
However, the Gers offered their opponents very little encouragement, with Jack Butland close to a spectator across the 90 minutes.
Clement continued: “It’s major because you train in different circumstances, for a different kind of football, then today you need to play something else. The team adapted really well.
“If you want to win trophies and titles, you need to play football in different circumstances. It’s about winning games, but we also want to play good games, and the boys managed it on this pitch.
“We played good football and we were dominant all over the pitch across the whole game. I don’t think we had one shot on target against today, so it was important to keep another clean sheet.
“The boys done a really good job. St. Johnstone played with two strikers and tried to get in-behind our defence, but our central defenders were really strong today and were helped by the rest of the team.”
