The young Gers picked up an impressive 5-3 victory over Burnley Under-21s as they played their third match in their Best v Best campaign at the Rangers Training Centre on Saturday afternoon.
A brace from the penalty spot from Alex Lowry, as well as goals from Bailey Rice, Thompson Ishaka and Josh McPake, made it two wins in three days for the Light Blues following their win over Everton Under-21s in midweek.
The Gers head into the cup match on the back of two victories as they look to progress to the second round of the competition against last season’s Lowland League champions.
OUR OPPONENTS
The League Two side head into the match following their final group fixture in the Viaplay Cup on Saturday afternoon.
The Edinburgh side were beaten 2-1 by Partick Thistle at the weekend as they finished in fourth place in the group.
Their campaign did result in two victories in four outings for Douglas Samuel’s men, however, including an impressive 1-0 win over last season’s relegated Scottish Premiership side, Dundee United, earlier this month, as well as a 2-1 win over Peterhead in their penultimate group fixture.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
B Team Head Coach, David McCallum: “It is the next game, as we looked at the last one against Everton, of course you are looking at different levels of opposition.
“You are looking at a first-team, and obviously League Two in Scottish football, so it will different, We will challenge our players to hit the same levels, not just with the ball, but I am talking intensity.”
