MIA MCAULAY has expressed her delight at scoring her first competitive goal as the youngster found the back of the net on two occasions in Rangers’ 5-1 win over Aberdeen this afternoon.
The winger’s strike in the second half regained the lead for the home side and set them on their way to another three points as Jo Potter’s team made it two wins in two games at the start of the league season.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game McAulay was happy to score her first goal for the club to help them on their way to victory.
She said: “To be honest I can't really remember it; I just remember striking it and just seeing it hit the net and I didn't know what to do. It felt amazing to score my first goal because obviously I started against Spartans last week and was unlucky not to get my first goal but today to score and to score two was really good.
“I thought we started all right, we didn't start as fast as we did last week. The first half wasn't our best and we know that, at half time we talked it out and in the second half I think we have come out and we scored the goals that we needed.
The 17-year-old praised the quality of goals from the hosts and highlighted her header in stoppage time as something they had been working on in the build-up to the fixture.
She continued: “The goals we scored were really good, especially my second one, that is what we have been working on in training and to see that has come out in the game is really good.”
The youngster said she is enjoying having a run in the team having started the opening two league fixtures and wants the side to build on the start they have made to the season so far.
She added: “I have really enjoyed it, I really like that Jo has put her trust in me to start these two games, so we just need to keep the momentum going throughout the campaign and hopefully just keep getting the three points.”
