The Light Blues made it nine goals in their last two outings in the league, marrying their clinical edge infront of goal with a well-earned clean sheet on the defensive front.
Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph, McCallum expressed his delight at his side’s overall performance: “I’m really pleased. It was another excellent performance, two games on the bounce where I feel we’ve found our rhythm and control.
“During the game we had a lot of possession, but it was possession with a purpose. You look at the goals we scored today, you could go through all of them, but particularly the third goal was a good example of how we want to look.
“Another real pleasing factor was the clean sheet because we’ve not had as many of them this season as we would have liked, but today we’ve earned that as well.
“We’re scoring a lot of goals. In comparison to last season, in terms of ratio to games, we’ve probably scored slightly more, but we’ve conceded slightly more as well so it’s a balance we’re trying to find.
“That’s one of the things that we keep talking about, when we have the ball we don’t always have to get into their final third quickly. When we do that, we can often leave ourselves open for transitions and that’s been a challenge for us.
“Our message to them is that go when it’s ready, but enjoy having the ball in the attacking half and play together. A lot of credit to the guys because I thought they were very good.”
McCallum named six changes to his side for the trip to Bo’ness as a result of first-team involvement for several players, naming an entirely new backline from the midweek victory over Open Goal Broomhill as Kelsey Ewen, Greig Allen, Connor Allan and Kevin Ciubotaru were handed opportunities in defence.
He continued: “I’m really pleased with them because they’ve had to be patient. They have competition with themselves to keep improving, but they also have competition with those around them.
“You look at Robbie Fraser, Johnly Yfeko and Jack Harkness missing today, and Lewis MacKinnon starting on the bench, those lads were training with the first-team today and those are the opportunities we want those guys to get.
“If we’re not going to have players it’s because they’re getting opportunities to train with the first-team and they’ve had that today.
“Within that brings an opening, and we’re really pleased that guys have come in and done really well. I can look at Kelsey’s assist for the third goal, the number of times Kevin got himself into some really good attacking positions.
“They have both contributed very well, then you look at Greig Allen coming in, who hasn’t played for us recently for different reasons through injury, came in and done really well.
“You also look at those who came off the bench and contributed, and we’ve continued to create chances throughout the course of the game. There’s a lot to be pleased with, but I’m equally pleased that we’ve kept a clean sheet.”
