The young Ger expressed his delight to be selected for John Schofield’s side for the first time as they aim to progress to the next round of the tournament.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV before he reported for international duty, he said: "I was actually sitting in the house and saying to Lewis [MacKinnon] that I hoped I was in the squad, and I looked at my emails two minutes later and I was absolutely chuffed – I’m glad that the gaffer has put his trust in me to pick me.
"I’m absolutely buzzing, I’m looking forward to the game and hopefully we get through to the next round."
McCausland recognised the benefit of playing domestically against senior footballers and how that will impact his performance when away with the international team.
He added: "I think that the variety of competitions will set me up when I go away with Northern Ireland because it’s a step up from the U19’s. I think the fact that we have played in the Lowland League, Glasgow Cup and the Youth League will help a lot.
"I’m looking forward to the challenge, I’ve been playing in the league campaign this year and I feel that it will have a big boost in my performance when I go away with Northern Ireland."
