McCausland Praises Gers Coaching Team For Development

ROSS McCAUSLAND has credited the Rangers coaching staff for the improvements that he's made in his game since joining the first-team squad.

The Academy graduate was on the scoresheet in the UEFA Europa League once again last night as Rangers ran out 2-0 winners over Malmo in Sweden.

McCausland sprung from the substitutes bench in the second half to deliver the blow which killed off any lingering hopes of an equaliser from the hosts, finishing in off the post with his left foot.

And the Northern Irish international believes the goal was a reward for his hard work on the training pitch.

Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, the 21-year-old commented: "It was with my left foot, which is something that myself, the manager and Alex Rae have been working on for months since coming into the first-team set-up.

"It's something that he's big on for myself, coming inside from the opposite side onto my non-stronger foot.

"I can see the progress over the last few months and I feel a lot more comfortable. It's helpful to be able to add that to my game.

"There are a lot of things in my game now that he's brought into my game. To be able to go out into these games and bring these things that I've been working makes it all worth it.

"It's my second goal in the competition, so I'm delighted to be able to contribute to the game tonight.

"All the lads have worked so hard over the past few days and it's amazing to come on and give a boost to the team."

The victory was the first time in the club's history that they have won in Sweden after failing to defeat Malmo away from home in their previous two attempts.

In doing so, the Light Blues recorded their third consecutive victory in all competitions, which has been underpinned by three clean sheets on the spin.

McCausland added: "People can see [the progress] from watching the game.

"The boys are starting to gel together and we're getting stronger with the new signings in the door. You can see that we have a strong squad.

"Have the new signings made an impact? They want the best this season, as do we all.

"Them coming into the squad and getting their first taste of Europe, with the fans bringing the atmosphere, is good. We all relish off the fact the fans have been amazing every game that I've been to.

"We've had to dig deep and get the three points. We're chuffed."
