The young Ger expressed his emotions to net the winning goal of the match in a challenging away environment with no travelling support.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV, he said: “It’s the best feeling ever, after being at Ibrox and then coming to their own stadium and putting on a good performance, it was great to get it [the goal] and the boys were buzzing in the changing room after it.
“When you first come out you need to try and thrive off it [opposition support] a little bit and take it in your stride to take some confidence off it if you can. You just need to try and block it out as you go through the game, the boys just remained focussed.”
McKinnon reflected on recent performances in the league campaign and insisted the squad took the opportunity tonight to showcase their capabilities as they prepare for Friday night’s fixture against Gala Fairydean.
He added: “We lost at the weekend there, today we came here, and we showed what we’re made of and what we can do - we just need to focus on Friday now against Gala Fairydean, this game doesn’t mean anything if we don’t go and win that.
“Celebrations need to end there; we’ve got that game on Friday so we will be in tomorrow recovering and put a session in to get ready to go.”
