The Light Blues take on Glasgow City on Sunday afternoon in an eagerly anticipated clash at Broadwood Stadium with both sides taking maximum points at the start of the new campaign.
Speaking ahead of the game the defender says the fixture has a high importance even at this early stage with last season proving the title can come down to fine margins come the end of it.
She said: “It showed that last year, obviously it came down to fine margins, but at the same time it is just about focusing on each game each week rather than focus on such big games. I think we have just got to take each one and we are going out there to get three points in each one of them and this is just one along the way.
“Every game is always going to be tough and we know what Glasgow City pose, we have just been working away at that and focusing on them so we can just go in and try put things right for us as well.
“I think it is obviously hard, each team has a different way of playing and you have to change your thoughts for that. They are a very tough team and they won the league last year so they are a very strong side and we know and we have just got to go in there with belief in ourselves and go try and get the three points.”
The Scotland international has reflected on the side’s last meeting on the final day of the 2022/23 season and feels those who were in the squad on that occasion are determined to put that disappointment right come Sunday.
She continued: “Thinking back to that obviously hurting, for the ones that were here last year we want to put that right, but at the same time it is a new team, new head coach and a new setup. We just want to focus on this season and going as strong as we can going into each game.”
The 26-year-old has impressed in the opening games of the season in new centre-back position as head coach Jo Potter has altered the team’s system for the season, and McLauchlan is enjoying learning the new role and how it will work for her moving forward.
She added: “I am getting used to it, it was obviously a different position for me to learn, coming in it was a new formation as well. It also exciting to learn that new role and I just want to do well for the team and that is what I am trying to do at the moment.”
