The Light Blues are in Gibraltar ahead of their match with Lincoln Red Imps tomorrow night, fresh off the back of making it seven clean sheets from seven in their 4-0 defeat of Dundee United on Saturday.
McLaughlin was on media duties this afternoon, and he explained: "Of course, I am very proud to have got that opportunity with a winning team, and to be a part of a little piece of history for the club and the league is always fantastic .
"Collectively as a whole team - the staff and the club - it is something to take confidence from.
"So we take a lot of positives from that, and personally, it has been great to be involved in that.
"The full focus for the team will be to continue building on that foundation that we have built in every game and as I said, whoever is selected to put in that same performance and have that same mentality - respect the opponent, respect what they could do to you in an attacking sense and make sure defensively, we are fully switched on, get that clean sheet and give the lads that full opportunity over the 90 minutes to get that job done however they need to do it."
McLaughlin was also quizzed on the efforts put in behind the scenes to get off to such a good start, and he added: "Lots of work goes in on the training field with the goalkeeping department and the defensive department with the way the team train, and then it just comes from the manager and his staff.
"That is where it comes from, so whoever is playing, if it is myself or if it is Allan, and the defensive players dropping in and out, whoever goes out there, everyone has that instilled in them and they don't have to be told what the expectations are.
"Only then if the standards and the expectations are constantly held at that very high level, which the gaffer demands, it puts you in the best position."
