The Light Blues kicked-off the new year with a dominant 11-0 victory in the Scottish Cup against Stirling University last weekend, but McPherson says the hard work must continue ahead of the trip to Edinburgh on Sunday.
The assistant coach sat down exclusively with RangersTV to look ahead to the restart of the league. He said: “We are expecting a tough challenge from Hearts, they are one of the vastly improved teams in the league from last season, you can see that from their league position.
“They have strengthened their squad really well and a couple of the girls Ciara [Grant] and Emma [Brownlie] that we know but other girls that they have recruited as well so they have been really consistent. We know it is going to be a tough tough challenge for us on Sunday.
“We have had a good week off the back of the Scottish Cup result on Sunday which was very good and the girls have come in at the start of this week and applied themselves really well. Attention has turned straight to Hearts and we have done some work analysing Hearts and then working to see how we can try and win the game so it has been good.”
Reflecting on the first 12 games of the SWPL season, McPherson says he has been pleased with the professionalism of the squad.
He continued: “We have been consistent and we have approached each game with professionalism and the girls have brought that in the way that they prepare every week.
“We respect every opponent, we watch every opponent and we analyse them and the girls look at the footage. Our professionalism has been really good, we have had a level of performance that has been quite high most weeks, but we are always trying to strive to get better and better.
“We drew against Glasgow City and Celtic so we obviously want to try and improve on those kinds of performances later in the season but we take it game by game and Hearts will be a tough opponent for us but we have done ok but there's plenty of football still to be played.”
