Men's International Review

RANGERS have had a number of players away representing their national teams over the most recent break.

Here’s our review of how those who featured got on:

Scotland – John Souttar, Liam Kelly & Connor Barron

  • Scotland 3-1 Greece – World Cup Qualifier

  • Scotland 2-1 Belarus – World Cup Qualifier

The Gers were represented in the Scotland national squad as they claimed crucial back-to-back victories to keep their hopes of qualifying for a first World Cup finals since 1998 alive.

John Souttar was named in the starting side for the comeback victory over Greece on Thursday, before he appeared as a sub in their Sunday success, with Liam Kelly and Connor Barron on the bench after the latter received a late call-up to join up with the Scots.

Steve Clarke’s men have now put themselves in a promising position ahead of the final break of the year next month, with destiny of reaching the major finals in their own hands with matches away to Greece and home to Denmark to come.

Norway - Thelo Aasgaard

  • Norway 5-0 Israel – World Cup Qualifier

  • Norway 1-1 New Zealand – International Friendly

Thelo was once again involved with his national team setup as they also played out two fixtures across the last week.

Firstly, the midfielder appeared off the bench in a convincing 5-0 World Cup qualifying win over Israel, to cement their place at the top of the group and maintain their 100 per cent start.

They then faced off against New Zealand in a friendly match yesterday evening, with the 23-year-old getting minutes from the off in a 1-1 draw.

North Macedonia - Bojan Miovski

  • Belgium 0-0 North Macedonia – World Cup Qualifier

  • North Macedonia 1-1 Kazakhstan – World Cup Qualifier

The frontman was part of the North Macedonia squad that played out a further two qualifying matches in their quest to reach next summer’s finals.

He faced off against club teammate Nico Raskin in a goalless draw on Friday evening, before he was named in the starting lineup once again his side came from behind to draw with Kazakhstan.

His nation currently occupy second place in their respective group, a point off table toppers Belgium having played a game more.

  

    

Finland - Oliver Antman

  • Finland 2-1 Lithuania – World Cup Qualifier

  • Netherlands 4-0 Finland – World Cup Qualifier

The winger was involved with the Finland squad as their World Cup qualifying campaign continued over the most recent break.

They began with a positive result on home soil against Lithuania, with Antman in the squad in a 2-1 win.

Finland then faced off against the Dutch and were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat to leave their hopes of reaching the 2026 tournament in the balance.

Burkina Faso - Nasser Djiga

  • Sierra Leone 0-1 Burkina Faso – World Cup Qualifier

  • Burkina Faso 3-1 Ethiopia – World Cup Qualifier

Nasser was part of the Burkina Faso squad that continued their positive qualifying campaign so far.

They firstly claimed a 1-0 win over Sierra Leone on Wednesday before a 3-1 win over Ethiopia followed in a productive break for his nation.

The defender’s country sit in second place in their group, five points off already qualified Egypt.

Belgium - Nico Raskin

  • Belgium 0-0 North Macedonia – World Cup Qualifier

  • Wales 2-4 Belgium – World Cup Qualifier

The Gers midfielder continued his productive form with his national side as he featured in both their outings over the break.

Belgium firstly had to settle for a point in their qualifier on Friday evening, before Raskin was back in the UK to take on Wales as they claimed the victory in a 4-2 win.

Destiny of participating in next summer’s finals is firmly in his nation’s hands, as they sit top of their group by a singular point heading into next month’s matches.

  

  

Albania - Nedim Bajrami

  • Serbia 0-1 Albania – World Cup Qualifier

  • Albania 4-2 Jordan – International Friendly

Nedim’s nation continued their qualifying campaign as they claimed a crucial 1-0 away success over Serbia to keep their hopes of a play-off place alive.

Currently sitting in second behind already qualified England, the result means they will have the opportunity to feature in the March matches to reach next summer’s tournament should they match or better the third place team’s results next month.

Following their win, they faced off against African nation Jordan in a friendly match, with the attacking midfielder getting himself on the scoresheet in a 4-2 win.

Canada - Derek Cornelius

  • Canada 0-1 Australia – International Friendly

  • Colombia 0-0 Canada – International Friendly

Derek joined up with his nation for two international friendly matches over the break.

He was in the starting side who were narrowly beaten by Australia firstly, before he was part of the backline that claimed a clean sheet in a goalless draw with Colombia in the early hours of this morning.

His nation will resume World Cup qualifying duties in next month’s round of games, taking on Ecuador and Venezuela, respectively.

Portugal U21 - Youssef Chermiti

  • Portugal U21 v Bulgaria U21 - UEFA Euro U21 Qualifier

  • Gibraltar U21 v Portugal U21 - UEFA Euro U21 Qualifier

The striker was part of the Portugal Under-21’s squad as he represented his nation twice over the break at youth level.

He was in the starting side in a 3-0 triumph over Bulgaria, before getting on the scoresheet in emphatic 11-0 success over Gibraltar yesterday.

In doing so, they maintained their perfect start to their qualifying group with four wins from four.

  

  

Scotland U21 - Findlay Curtis

  • Scotland U21 11-0 Gibraltar U21- UEFA Euro U21 Qualifier

  • Azerbaijan U21 3-3 Scotland U21 - UEFA Euro U21 Qualifier

Findlay was part of the young Scots squad who continued their Euro Under-21’s qualifying campaign with a further two outings over the last seven days.

They firstly claimed an history making emphatic 11-0 win over Gibraltar, before being part of a six-goal thriller against Azerbaijan on Tuesday.

Scotland have four points from their four outings so far, with ground to make up in Group A heading into the next round of matches.

England U19 - Mikey Moore

  • England U19 4-1 Belgium U19 - International Friendly

  • England U19 7-0 Wales U19 – International Friendly

Mikey was involved in the England Under-19’s setup over the break as they featured in two friendly matches out in Spain.

It was an impressive first showing from the Spurs loanee, netting a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Belgium on Saturday morning.

He came off the bench to find the back of the net once again, this time in a comfortable 7-0 victory over Wales.
