THERE are a number of men’s first-team players who will proudly represent their countries over the next seven days in the final set of international fixtures in the calendar year.
Here’s a round-up of who is away, and the games they have coming up:
Scotland – John Souttar, Connor Barron and Liam Kelly
Greece v Scotland – World Cup Qualifying – Saturday, November 15 – Kick-off 7:45pm
Scotland v Denmark – World Cup Qualifying – Tuesday, November 18 – Kick-off 7:45pm
Ultimate international glory could await a trio of Rangers players as Scotland stand on the brink of World Cup qualification.
Steve Clarke’s side must ensure they take at least a point from their trip to face Greece on Saturday evening which would set up a winner-takes-all contest back at Hampden against Denmark in six days’ time.
Souttar has been a mainstay in the Scotland defence for the qualification campaign and, alongside Kelly, has been bolstered by the late inclusion of the in-form Barron to the squad.
Norway – Thelo Aasgaard
Norway v Estonia – World Cup Qualifying – Thursday, November 13 – Kick-off 5pm
Italy v Norway – World Cup Qualifying – Sunday, November 16 – Kick-off 7:45pm
Thelo has been an important member of the Norway squad in their World Cup qualification campaign as they hope to secure their return to a major international tournament over the next week.
The side currently sit at the top of their qualification group and ahead of Italy who they face on Sunday evening in Milan.
The 23-year-old netted four for his country during the set of September fixtures and will hope to play a greater creative role in supply of Erling Haaland with Martin Odegaard absent through injury.
Belgium – Nico Raskin
Kazakhstan v Belgium – World Cup Qualification – Saturday, November 15 – Kick-off 2pm
Belgium v Lichtenstein – World Cup Qualification – Tuesday, November 18 – Kick-off 7:45pm
Nico has firmly established himself as a fan favourite of the Belgian public for his impressive performances under Rudi Garcia this year.
Belgium control their own qualification destiny after four wins from six in Group J and know that victory over Kazakhstan on Saturday afternoon would confirm their place in North America next summer.
North Macedonia – Bojan Miovski
North Macedonia v Latvia – Friendly – Thursday, November 13 – Kick-off 5pm
Wales v North Macedonia – World Cup Qualification – Tuesday, November 18 – Kick-off 7:45pm
Also residing in Group J is Bojan and North Macedonia who trail Belgium by a solitary point in the standings.
Having played a game more, they face off against Latvia tomorrow evening as a tune-up for their final group outing away to Wales on Tuesday evening.
Results elsewhere could see the country qualify automatically, but they will be keen nonetheless to ensure of a runners up spot which would seal their place in the play-offs in March 2026.
Albania – Nedim Bajrami
Andorra v Albania – World Cup Qualification – Thursday, November 13 – Kick-off 7:45pm
Albania v England – World Cup Qualification – Sunday, November 16 – Kick-off 5pm
Nedim will represent Albania once again as they look to wrap up a play-off spot for next year’s World Cup.
Victory for Albania over Andorra, coupled with defeat for Serbia at Wembley, would do exactly that with group winners England set to visit on Sunday evening.
Albania have never qualified for a World Cup despite their recent European Championship appearances and Nedim will hope to play a starring role for his nation in their bid to do so.
Finland – Oliver Antman
Finland v Malta – World Cup Qualification – Friday, November 14 – Kick-off 5pm
Finland v Andorra – Friendly – Monday, November 17 – Kick-off 5pm
Finland and Oliver have an outside chance of securing a play-off spot in Group G as they host Malta on Friday evening.
The side will require Poland, currently residing in second place, to suffer defeat against both the Netherlands and Malta to take advantage.
Northern Ireland – Ross McCausland
Slovakia v Northern Ireland – World Cup Qualification – Friday, November 15 – Kick-off 7:45pm
Northern Ireland v Luxembourg – World Cup Qualification – Monday, November 17 – Kick-off 7:45pm
Ross, who is currently enjoying a productive loan spell in Cyprus with Aris Limassol, will form part of the Northern Ireland squad in the final set of international fixtures in 2025.
The side sit third in the group but have already secured their play-off spot next March by virtue of finishing top of their Nations League group.
A victory in Slovakia on Friday would boost their own hopes of finishing runners up, with Germany leading the way heading into the final two fixtures.
Burkina Faso – Nasser Djiga
Burkina Faso v Niger – Friendly – Friday, November 14 – Kick-off 1pm
Burkina Faso v Benin – Friendly – Tuesday, November 18 – Kick-off 1pm
International duty beckons for Nasser as Burkina Faso step up their preparations for the African Cup of Nations next month.
The tournament begins on December 21 and has drawn the side into a group alongside Algeria, Sudan and Equatorial Guinea.
A positive set of performances over the coming week for Nasser would strengthen his hopes of being selected for the final squad.
Canada – Derek Cornelius
Ecuador v Canada – Friendly – Friday, November 14 – Kick-off 12:30am
Canada v Venezuela – Friendly – Wednesday, November 19 – Kick-off 1:30am
Derek and Canada will contest a couple of friendly matches in the USA and Canada as they continue their tune-up for next summer’s World Cup in North America.
The defender was on the scoresheet earlier this season against Wales on international duty and has settled nicely into life at Ibrox following his loan move from Olympique Marseille.
Portugal Under-21s – Youseff Chermiti
Czech Republic Under-21s v Portugal Under-21s – Under-21 European Championship Qualifying – Tuesday, November 18 – Kick-off 5pm
After scoring earlier in the side’s qualification campaign, Youseff has once again been selected in the Portugal Under-21s squad.
A trip to face the Czech Republic awaits as Portugal hope to steer their way into European Championships in 2027 in Albania and Serbia.
Northern Ireland Under-21s – Mason Munn
Northern Ireland Under-21s v Latvia Under-21s – Under-21 European Championship Qualifying – Thursday, November 13 – Kick-off 7:45pm
Greece Under-21s v Northern Ireland Under-21s – Under-21 European Championship Qualifying – Tuesday, November 18 – Kick-off 7:45pm
Northern Ireland Under-21s face a pair of crucial qualification matches against Latvia and Greece in their bid to reach the finals in 2027.
Mason has featured prominently for Dunfermline Athletic on loan in the first half of the campaign and will hope his added senior experience is beneficial in the Northern Ireland camp over the next seven days.
England Under-20s – Jayden Meghoma
England Under-20s v Japan Under-20s – Friendly – Friday, November 14 – Kick-off 7:30pm
Jayden has been an impressive performer for the Gers this campaign and has been rewarded with selection to the England Under-20s squad.
They will square off against Japan in Doncaster on Friday evening, which will be an opportunity for the young full-back to catch the eye.
England Under-19s – Mikey Moore
England Under-19s v Lithuania Under-19s – Under-19 European Championship Qualifying – Wednesday, November 12 – Kick-off 4pm
Latvia Under-19s v England Under-19s – Under-19 European Championship Qualifying – Saturday, November 15 – Kick-off 10am
England Under-19s v Scotland Under-19s – Under-19 European Championship Qualifying – Tuesday, November 18 – Kick-off 10am
The on-loan winger, who netted his first Gers goal against Dundee at the weekend, will represent England Under-19s in their bid to seal qualification to the European Championships.
Lithuania is the destination for the young Lions as they square off against the hosts, Latvia and Scotland, which will feature four of our very own Academy players.
