The EFC’s working groups are formed around key priority areas and ensure that the realities of club football directly shape decisions at UEFA, FIFA and EU level. These groups give clubs the platform to solve issues together and push for changes that have a genuine impact throughout football.
Patrick’s appointment places Rangers within one of EFC’s most influential governance forums. The Legal & Regulatory Working Group helps shape disciplinary frameworks, licensing systems, integrity structures and the wider regulatory environment that underpins European football. His involvement reflects his extensive legal experience and Rangers’ growing influence within Europe’s football landscape.
Patrick Stewart said: “Rangers needs to be present in the rooms where decisions are shaped, both domestically and in Europe, to make sure the interests of our club and supporters are understood.
Rangers’ engagement with EFC extends well beyond this appointment.
Earlier this year, Natalie Nairn, the club’s Business Growth Director, was selected for EFC’s Women on Board Programme.
This programme is part of EFC’s strategic commitment to supporting more women as they prepare to take on governance, executive and board-level responsibilities. The initiative is designed for senior women at EFC member clubs who already operate at a strategic level or have been identified as high-potential leaders.
The club hosted the EFC at Ibrox Stadium in September for their Platform for Executive Consultation (PEC)meeting. Senior club staff, alongside Rangers legends John Brown and Mark Hateley welcomed representatives from clubs across Europe for discussions on the future of the game, focusing on agent relationships and youth football development.
In addition, Greg Marshall, the club’s Head of Fan Engagement and Supporter Liaison Officer, was appointed to their newly formed Fans Working Group.

Rangers sits alongside Atlético Madrid, Manchester City, RB Leipzig, Feyenoord and Juventus on this group. Greg is playing an active role in raising the issues faced by Rangers fans abroad with the aim to make away fixtures safer, fairer and more enjoyable.
Patrick Stewart added: “Natalie’s progression through the Women on Board Programme and Greg’s involvement on supporter issues demonstrate our commitment to strengthen our voice within European football and it will help us improve what we do here in Scotland.”
