The Light Blues are in Scottish Cup action later this afternoon as they begin the new month off the back of booking their place in the Sky Sports Cup final and cementing their place at the top of the SWPL table throughout January.
Speaking to RangersTV ahead of the cup tie at Broadwood Stadium today against Dundee United, the versatile midfielder wants the team to take another step towards achieving their goals, she commented: “We came back on the January 2 after our Christmas break and everyone was ready to go straight away.
“We set our targets at the beginning of the season and we would like to win all the silverware that we can put our hands on. The aim is to win the treble, we are in a good position right now, we kicked off the new year well, had some good performances, it is not all just about the wins but how we play as well.
“We always try to tweak a few things here and there in our system to make it as unpredictable as possible for opponents to play against us. We are able to play many different ways and surprise the opponent and that should hopefully make us a team that is difficult to beat.
“We just want to win as many games and cups as possible. Last year we managed to win the Sky Sports Cup, we hope to do it again and also look to book our spot in the other cup final but we are not there yet.
“First there are a few rounds to go, Sunday will hopefully be another step towards that goal.”
The 31-year-old spoke of their opponents and believes the team must approach the tie with the right mindset.
She continued: “We are expecting them to sit in a bit of a low block and make it difficult for us to break through. That is up to us to find solutions and allow us to play through or around them.
“We know that we would like to be as ruthless as we can be, because that is going to help us win games with ease.
“That is what we done really well when we played them last so hopefully we can have a good performance again on Sunday.
“It is right to as they always say, take one game at a time, especially if we are working on tweaking a few things here and there.
“It is not just a game that you can just throw away afterwards and not reflect on, you can learn from every game.
“We are still adapting to the way that Jo wants us to play, Sunday is another good test for us and in training every day is an opportunity to work on getting better.”
Today will mark the start of a three-game week for Jo Potter’s side and Middag wants the players to embrace the challenge that awaits.
She added: “It won’t be the first time that we are going to play three games in one week. After the split we will have a few of those weeks.
“Last year we were maybe a bit more used to it in the first half of the season because we played Champions League as well. We have a good enough squad quality wise and depth wise to be able to be as fresh as possible. Rotate everyone in without losing any quality because we try to have high levels of standards in training and I think you can play almost anyone in any position and we will still perform well.
“The goal for us now is to be able to really push ourselves on every matchday, recover well in between and don’t let our standards drop when we go into the second or third game in one week. That is going to be a nice challenge for us all.”
You can still purchase tickets for the match in Cumbernauld this afternoon here, priced at £7 for adults and £4 for concessions and juveniles.
