This reflects how the majority of supporters already access their tickets, by scanning them directly from their mobile device, and builds on recent changes to ticket delivery timings and supporter communications, which have already helped reduce queuing times on matchdays.

Looking Ahead
We know many supporters have asked about the return of smartcards for all matches at Ibrox.
While they will continue to be used for league fixtures, it isn’t operationally viable to use them for European and cup fixtures. As part of our wider move towards more flexible, digital ticketing, we’re focusing on improving mobile and print-at-home options to make the process as smooth as possible.
Rangers are also exploring NFC ticketing as a future option. This technology would allow supporters to tap their phone at the turnstile, similar to Apple Pay or Google Pay, without needing to display a barcode or QR code.
