The full-back, who tasted success in this competition last year but not as skipper, was beaming with pride at collecting the silverware following a 4-1 defeat of Partick Thistle at Tynecastle.
Almost 5000 supporters were in attendance to see it, and Docherty told RangersTV: "It's got to be up there as one of the proudest moments of my career. I have had many highs and certainly many lows, but to do that today with a special group of players is phenomenal.
"I am so proud of every single player that was on the pitch today - the ones that came on and made an impact as well and I am just delighted for everybody involved in the club as we are trying to bring as many trophies back from the women's team as possible as we know Rangers is built on a history of winning things so that is something we are trying to do with the women's team as well.
"Hopefully, there are many more to come as well. I am a little lost for words. We work so hard throughout the week to make moments like this, and I have said to the group of girls, nothing beats winning - nothing beats having a trophy on your hands.
"To do that today, and I will keep going back to the special group that we have got, everyone works so hard behind the scenes, including all the staff and everyone involved at the club has had an impact on today."
After grabbing an early lead, Gers were pegged back before eventually powering to a 4-1 success.
Responding to that setback so positively is something Docherty puts down to the mentality installed by boss Jo Potter.
Docherty continued: "In the first half, we allowed Partick to come into the game and that's not what we wanted. After they scored, the instant comeback we did is because of what we are used to and that winning mentality and what Jo has done from day one.
"That is certainly what we did today."
