In an exciting matchup under the Ibrox lights, the two rivals will face off once again as Rangers look to claim the city bragging rights for the second time this season.
Speaking to the official Rangers website to preview the team’s latest SPWPL outing, the defender said: “We love playing these fixtures. We are just delighted it is at Ibrox as well; we always love playing here, so we are really looking forward to the game.
“It will be a tough one, we have obviously had a mixed bag of results, but we certainly want to turn up on Friday night and make sure that we come away with three points.
“We certainly can take confidence from the last fixture against Celtic.
“I thought we were really dominant that game and really aggressive.
“In terms of where we are in the league at the moment, it is not where we want to be, but we know that we have to improve and improve quickly because we know how tight and competitive this league is.
“Qualities needed? It is just making sure that we are all on the same page. These fixtures always come down to small margins, and whoever turns up on the day.
“There is not too much between the teams, but whichever team wants it more tends to come out on top. We need to make sure that we are on it to get a result.”
Leanne Crichton’s side returned to winning ways domestically by booking their place in the Sky Sports Cup semi-finals in their last outing. The team set up a last four outing against their rivals in the new year as a result, with the Scotland international encouraging the team to build on their positive display.
She continued: “It is something that we touched on previously about starting games well.
“I thought the first 45 minutes of that game we were excellent. Some really nice bits of play that we have been working on behind the scenes on the training pitch.
“That was really good to see because it is something we have probably not done enough of is starting games fast.
“To at least get the start against Partick Thistle and make sure that we put in a performance that we are proud of, it will set us up in good stead for Friday night.
“We are going to need to start the game well again because we know that they have got threats, but we have got huge threats as well that we can really take into that.”
Docherty wants to see the Rangers fans turn out in their numbers to roar them to derby success, as she highlighted the importance of a run of wins heading into the international break later this month.
She added: “I think for fans that maybe come and watch the men every single week, it is the international break and if you are one of those guys, females or kids or anybody that comes along to watch the men's games at the weekends, at least come and give it a try.
“You don't know what it is until you come try it. I would certainly encourage you to come along because we have played some excellent football at times this season, and it is really exciting to watch.
“Ibrox? It is something that we have really taken on board and are really excited about.
“The more games that we have played here and the exposure for the young players as well, getting to play at Ibrox more frequently certainly helps the confidence levels of the young kids that are coming up through the ranks.
“To make sure that when it comes to the crunch end of the season that they are not too fazed by playing at Ibrox Stadium.
“What the board has given us and the club as a whole, allowing us to play on this fantastic pitch, is amazing.
“It is something that we have really been working on. Post-match, making sure that our analysis is on top and just the attitude of the players.
“Even after results that haven't gone our way, the attitude from everyone has been top.
They have come into the training ground and are making sure that we always want to improve, and making sure that it is the last one that we are going to be disappointed with.
“The girls, group, staff and everyone we are all wanting to be on the same page, and that is winning for this football club.”
