CURRENT FORM
St. Mirren have climbed up to third in the Scottish Premiership after an impressive run of form that has seen the Paisley side win five out of their last six games.
Saturday’s visitors to Ibrox also boast the fourth meanest defensive record in the division and have kept clean sheets in all bar one of their victories this season.
MANAGER
The Renfrewshire outfit are managed by Stephen Robinson after the Northern Irishman took up the post back in February following the departure of Jim Goodwin.
The 47-year-old was assistant to Michael O’Neill as Northern Ireland secured qualification to UEFA EURO 2016 before he was appointed permanent manager of Motherwell in March 2017.
While in charge at Fir Park, Robinson led the Steelman into Europe after a third place finish in the 2019/20 campaign.
STYLE OF PLAY
St. Mirren have typically lined up in a 3-5-2 formation this season, with the inclusion of a two-man striking duo proving particularly effective.
Jonah Ayunga and Curtis Main have formed a dangerous partnership in attack, although the former is suspended for the trip to Glasgow after his sending off against Livingston last weekend.
Marcus Fraser and Scott Tanser have been ever-presents in the St. Mirren side in recent years and they are supplemented by a hard-working trio in midfield.
KEY PLAYER
Keanu Baccus has made a big impression since arriving at St. Mirren from Australia in the summer and he is the driving force in midfield for the Paisley side.
The 24-year-old netted in his side’s 2-1 victory over Livingston last weekend and scored the only goal of the game in St. Mirren’s 1-0 win over Hibernian earlier this season.
His performances this campaign also earned him a call-up to the Australia squad for September’s international friendly matches.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The Light Blues have won their last 11 straight matches against St. Mirren, keeping clean sheets in all six of their meetings at Ibrox since 2018/19.
The most recent clash between these two sides ended in a comprehensive 4-0 win for Rangers in Paisley, with Kemar Roofe netting a hat-trick.
