Vaclav Cerny was the man of the moment for the Gers as it was his finish shortly after the interval which proved the difference in the contest.
Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph, the Gers boss said: “We had 72% possession and we had the ball almost all the time.
“Liam [Kelly] indeed didn’t have to make one real save, and that stays crucial that we’re not only attacking and creating chances but also keeping a good balance in the team.
“It’s another clean sheet and it’s important in that way for the club. We need to continue in this way, but of course we want to entertain our fans more and score more.
“The opportunities were there and we hit the crossbar four times which is kind of special in a game of football.
“We were close to scoring more goals and we also had the ball cleared off the line, but at the end the most important thing is the three points.
“The fans were again amazing and behind the team all the game. It has been 125 years of amazing moments.
“That’s why we wanted to give more today and that the players were frustrated we didn’t score the second and third goals because they wanted to give the fans that.”
Indeed, the Light Blues passed up a host of opportunities to add to their advantage in the second half, striking the woodwork through Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers.
However, it was a controlled performance from the Ibrox side, with Liam Kelly, who replaced Jack Butland between the posts during the warm-up, having relatively little action to contend with.
He said: “It’s not only about being more clinical but also a question of centimetres.
“It’s not as if we missed by missing the goal by far, although second half we should have scored more goals because we were too impatient in moments and not clinical enough in that way.
“The four chances against the crossbar were quite clinical and you need a little bit of luck there.
“We wanted to keep on pushing to score the goals, with a few little tweaks in positioning and how to find space.
“We wanted to create more chances, and we had a good transition moment with Vaclav [Cerny] and a good finish. We want to have more of those in the next couple of months.”
