Clement’s men were denied by the woodwork four times in what was a dominant performance to pick up the three points in the game which saw the club mark the 125th anniversary of Ibrox Stadium.

From last weekend’s match, there were two changes to the starting line-up as Dujon Sterling came in at centre-back while Danilo joined the attack with Leon Balogun and Nedim Bajrami on the bench.

Just minutes before kick-off, there was a late change for Clement’s side with Liam Kelly coming in to make his senior debut for the club and Jack Butland unable to play.

With three wins on the bounce in the Scottish Premiership, the Light Blues were looking to continue that form in front of a home crowd this afternoon. Dominating possession in the early period, it was the home side who were trying to carve out an early goal.

The breakthrough almost came with 17 minutes played as Danilo latched on the end of an Antonio Portales clearance on the edge of the Dundee box to get an effort away at goal, but it was gathered at the second attempt by Trevor Carson as Igamane looked to capitalise on the follow-up.

Ianis Hagi came close minutes later releasing a blistering shot towards goal which just grazed the top of the crossbar.

The woodwork denied Rangers for a second time as the game approached the half-hour mark, and it was captain James Tavernier with a free-kick. Jefte was fouled on the edge of the box and the captain stepped-up to take the set-piece and it was almost perfectly executed but bounced down off the bar before the danger was cleared by Dundee.

Clement’s men were really pushing for that opening goal, and Cerny forced a good save from Trevor Carson as the Dundee goalkeeper got a strong hand to the winger’s strike which he looked to send across the goalkeeper.

Despite the first-half domination, it was goalless as the sides headed in for the half-time break.

Into the second-half, Rangers threatened and got the opening goal with less than a minute played. Danilo picked-out Cerny and the winger made a good run into space. His pace saw him beat the Dundee defence and round the keeper to slot a low right-footed shot beyond Carson.

It was tight, but after a VAR check for offside the goal stood to give Rangers a deserved lead in this match.

James Tavernier came close to doubling the advantage with 53 minutes played as he headed a Hamza Igmane cross towards goal, but it bounced just wide of the right-hand post.

The ball was in the back of the net again five minutes later with Robin Propper playing a nice long pass into the path of Ianis Hagi and he slotted low beyond Carson, but the linesman raised his flag for offside and the goal was disallowed.

With 62 minutes played at Ibrox, Clement turned to his bench for the first time as Danilo was replaced by Nedim Bajrami.

Dundee’s Jordan McGhee headed over from a free-kick as the visitors looked to threaten, before Rangers broke up the other end with Hamza Igamane seeing a shot cleared off the line by the Dundee defence.

Goalscorer Vaclav Cerny was substituted with 15 minutes to play as Ross McCausland was introduced to the Rangers attack.

For the third time in this match, Rangers were denied by the woodwork as Ross McCausland and Nico Raskin combined, with the latter delivering a ball across the face of goal and Hamza Igamane was in a good position to get a touch but the Moroccan was unable to find the back of the net as it bounced back off the frame of the goal.

Ridvan and Cyriel Dessers were next to be introduced with less than 10 minutes to play at Ibrox as they replaced Ianis Hagi and Hamza Igamane.

Robin Propper did well to defend a Simon Murray chance in the final few minutes, before Dessers hit the woodwork for Rangers as he was denied an injury time goal by the bar.
