An early penalty for Derek McInnes’ side at Rugby Park saw the home side take the lead, but a superb James Tavernier free-kick and a fine finish from Tom Lawrence saw Clement’s men continue their winning start to 2024.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, Clement said: “I am most pleased with the mentality and the team spirit. You see players coming in and giving a lot of energy to the team and also the way the team adapted to the circumstances.
“It is difficult to play our normal football on this pitch. We are not used to doing that, they are used to doing it. After 10 minutes we get the penalty against so that is really in their advantage.
"They can sit on the sofa and wait for our mistakes and make transitions so it is a major thing that we can overcome that and get the victory.
“All respect to Kilmarnock, they are in a run of 15 games, and they only lost two times and it was two times against us. The rest they didn't lose so it is a massive, massive win for the team.
“The fans they were amazing tonight also, they kept pushing the team although we were behind there was no negativity every time, they kept pushing the players, kept on singing and kept on believing so it was massive.”
The manager was delighted with the energy from his substitutions and the impact of the whole squad in recent weeks. He continued: “That has been our strength the last couple of months, we cannot play every three days with the same team.
"We are the only team in three competitions, so we need to make rotations and it is important that guys come off the bench and do their role and they give their energy to the team like they all did.
“It showed the desire from everybody coming out of the dressing room and chasing the situation, not with the heads down but with a big heart and with good quality scoring two good goals.
“We also had other chances and if you get the penalty against in the beginning of the game like that then for sure we should've had a penalty also at the end because it is an even more clear handball so that could've made the difference also if we could've made the third goal.”
