The Light Blues rallied from a 2-0 half time deficit to claim a point in front of the Ibrox faithful in what was the first time a team has come back from two goals down in the fixture since 1987, as they now prepare for a quick return to action.
The Belgian will take his side to Dens Park tomorrow evening for the rescheduled fixture against Dundee with victory taking the Gers to the Scottish Premiership summit with six matches remaining.
Speaking to the media in this afternoon’s press conference ahead of the midweek clash, the manager said: “What did Sunday say about the character of your squad? That there is a big evolution because these are the same players that a few months ago could never do that.
“So they have taken a lot of good lessons and this needs to be a reference game for the rest of their career.
“If it is here at Rangers or in another team. This is the mentality you need to be a top player.
“It is not an easy thing, otherwise it would not have been from 1987 that this has happened.”
The manager has assessed the challenge his team will face with their opponents targeting a top-six finish as the league split will take place after this weekend’s fixtures.
He continued: “They are in the battle for a top-six place which is a huge thing.
“They are going full in attack and creating a lot of chances, scoring a lot of goals.
“They have a manager with a lot of fire inside of him. It is a big test to play against them, it is a good team.”
Clement provided an update on his squad as they head to face Tony Docherty’s men in the penultimate league match before the split, with the likes of Nico Raskin and Kemar Roofe able to be involved having not been in the squad for the derby.
He added: “Of course, like everybody. Maybe they are in the squad, they can be.
“That depends on positions, how the opponent is, how we are.
“The form we show in training and I didn't have anything to say about that.
“It is not that they are not performing or not doing their best, but there is a lot of competition.
“This is Rangers and this is what we want, to have competition for spots and that everybody needs to fight for their spots to be in the team or to be on the bench.
“Ridvan is still missing, for the rest no special things after our last game.
“It is not long-term but he is not fit for this game.
“When do you envisage him coming back? As fast as possible, it is a matter of days.
“So not weeks it is not going to be many weeks but it is now in a few days or after the weekend we will see. That is difficult to predict now.”
