The Light Blues head to Airdrie in an Old Firm clash off the back of a fantastic domestic season so far, as they target a place in March’s final.
Speaking to the media in this afternoon’s press conference ahead of the last four clash at the Excelsior Stadium, the head coach feels her side are in a good place and are ready for the contest.
She commented: “A semi-final is always a big occasion and you don't really get bigger than the Old Firm in that semi-final. Everyone is really excited; we are all confident and we know we are in a good run of form so it should be a good game.
“I think we are in a really good place. We know we have worked hard to get in this position. It hadn't always been like this at the start of season, it was tough for us with the transition and the changeover and the players trying to learn a new way of playing.
“It was never just as easy as it is now. Cup games is always just one game, it only takes a moment. That is why we work week in week out to be consistent and make sure that we are trying to perform day in day out in training, to make sure those performances are consistent on a Sunday.
“We are in a good place, we know that we are confident in how we work and how we structure ourselves, how we want to perform on a Sunday, that comes along with those results really.”
Potter has praised her squad for their showings so far this campaign but says they are nowhere done yet in where they want to get to this campaign.
She continued: “We are sat at the top of the table three points clear. We are there to be shot at, everyone is chasing us and rightly so because we put ourselves in that position.
“Along comes with that is a little bit of pressure, of sitting at the top and knowing how to stay there. They sometimes say it easier to get there but it is harder to stay there.
“It has not been that easy to get there, we know there is some very good teams in this league. We have to put up some very good performances but we know we are nowhere near done yet and we know we have still got a long way to go. A semi-final on Friday is a big test for us but I think we are ready.”
The former Lioness has said it what it would mean for the Gers to reach the first final of the season and says it would be a just reward for the players if they overcome Celtic and book their place at Tynecastle Stadium in March.
She added: “I think it would be huge for us. I don't really look at it as just me leading the team. It has been such a whole group effort.
“I look at the players and the transition that they have had to come through and take on board all the information that we have been giving them for the past five or six months.
“It is just what they deserve, they are the ones that bring it to life on that pitch and I have said it time and time again that we are miles ahead of where I actually thought we would be at this moment in time.
“It is all credit to the players; they have got to go out there and bring my way to life and they have been absolutely doing that week in week out. Should we get through to a final it is no more than they deserve.”
