The Light Blues will take on city rivals Celtic in the first ever women’s derby match at Ibrox and the head coach says everyone can’t wait for the occasion.
Speaking to RangersTV at the stadium ahead of the fascinating contest the former Lioness is eagerly anticipating the opportunity for her team to play on the famous old turf once again.
She commented: “I think it will be a great spectacle. It is always a tasty fixture; the Old Firm and I don't think there has ever been one at Ibrox.
“We want to be breaking down barriers and we want to be pushing this game forward and I think it is a great time for us to do it.
“We want to be playing on the best pitches against the best teams.
“If we want to push attendances, want to push this game forward and we want to show people what women's football can become and what it can do, people can come and watch it and it is a good game to watch then we have got to be playing these games at these stadiums.
“You have not got to be afraid to do it. This is a fixture that got put to me many months ago and my first immediate response was thinking absolutely yes. I think we have got to take risks and chances.
“Everybody wants to come to this stadium because it is so iconic, all the players want to play on this pitch because it is a beautiful pitch to play on.
“We need to use that and make sure that is happening more and more often.
“The club has been great in getting us a couple of games on here already even before the split. I can’t wait for it and neither can the players.”
Potter has encouraged her side to take the good parts of their successes in the meetings so far this season, with the Gers having a 100% record against their rivals in the clashes thus far.
She continued: “It is implementing our game plan and doing what we do well. We know their threats, they will be slightly different to what we have faced them the previous couple of times, with different personnel.
“They have changed styles a few times now, they are still in their infancy under their new manager so we have got to make sure that we use our experience and our cool heads on the day and we implement our plan as we should.
“We know that when we do that not many teams can live with us. We have proved that previously but sometimes all that goes out the window when you are playing in an Old Firm.
“When it is Rangers v Celtic those games are when everybody else brings their A game and we are expecting Celtic to definitely bring their A game on Sunday and we are definitely looking forward to it.”
The boss wants her players to put on a show for the supporters as her team looks to head into the international break on a positive note.
She added: “It is going to be a battle; it is going to be a tough game. The gap has closed slightly now from what it was.
“It is going to make for all the better game for everybody coming and watching it.
“I'd urge people to come and watch the game and really get behind the girls this week.”
