Rangers will take on city rivals Celtic this Sunday afternoon in an eagerly anticipated showdown as they matchup for the third time in all competitions this season.
Speaking to the media in this afternoon’s press conference the head coach wants her team to take the pressure that comes with the occasion and put on a performance in front of the home support.
She commented: “We can’t wait, I said previously I think it is brilliant that we are the first team to put an Old Firm at our ground.
“I think these games deserve it, you have seen the last couple of games how close they have been and what a spectacle they have been.
“I think it is always going to affect both teams, when you are sometimes playing in a stadium that is unbeknown to yourself it is not quite a home tie for as much as it is because it is very different for us both.
“It is something that we have got to get used to, we have got to be excited about these moments.
“We can’t let it be too daunting for us and we have got to make sure that we are turning up and like feeling the pressure, taking the pressure and trying to perform under it as well.”
The former Lioness insists the team’s preparations heading into the game remain the same but wants her side to show a reaction from their result in their league match last weekend.
She continued: “It remains the same, we don't really change. We try to be as consistent as possible, as we can throughout the week.
“I think if you saw myself in such highs or such lows I don't know what message that sends to the players because I ask them to be consistent on a weekend.
“Yes we dropped points but to get to the middle of February and you see that as a real blip I think we have been doing absolutely excellent.
“I don’t think our confidence should be dented too much; I think we have got to be aware that they look very different to last time we played them.
“They have changed styles a few times since then, but we just need to make sure that we are playing our game.
“We know when we are on it there are not many teams and players that can handle us. If that doesn’t give us the confidence that we need then I am not sure what does.
“It won’t matter if we were playing somebody sat at the bottom of the league or sat at the top of the league, I would be looking for that exact same reaction.
“For us I think that leads into that consistency piece. I want a reaction from it this week which we have had and we are looking for a better performance come Sunday.”
Potter has provided an injury update on her squad and wants the players available to step up and perform on the day.
She added: “It is very much the same as last weekend. We are a little bit light on the squad these last few weeks with a few injuries to key people in key positions.
“It is a little bit light but these things happen throughout the season and this is why we have got a squad for other players to step up and be counted for.”
