Rangers Announce Signing of Camille Lafaix

RANGERS Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Camille Lafaix from Bordeaux on a one-year deal subject to international clearance.

The midfielder, who joins after spending last season with the club in France’s top flight, becomes the fifth addition of the summer transfer window as Jo Potter strengthens her squad further with the team set to compete on both domestic and European fronts this campaign.

Born in Los Gatos, California, in the United States, the 23-year-old began her college career with Cal Poly Mustangs where she spent three years.

Winning the Big West Midfielder of the Year award in both 2021 and 2022, becoming the first player to claim the accolade in consecutive seasons.

She spent the most recent campaign in Division 1 Feminine and now will link up with the Light Blues ahead of their second SWPL match of the season when they host Partick Thistle this weekend.

On signing for the Gers, Lafaix commented: “I am extremely excited to be here and to start my journey with Rangers.

“When I think of Scottish football, I think about Rangers, so obviously every time I ask for some feedback from some of my old teammates or my parents they were all extremely delighted to hear that it was Rangers that was interested.”

Head coach Jo Potter added: “I am delighted to be able to add Camille to the squad for the upcoming season.

“She will help add further creativity to enhance the team and provide something different in the attacking third of the pitch.

“Playing at a high level last season will only help her growth as a player and we hope to see her develop further in a Rangers jersey, I look forward to working with her.”

Women’s and Girls Managing Director Donald Gillies also said: “We are thrilled to add Camille to the Rangers squad for the season ahead.

“Having made a first step into professional football in the last campaign, we are hopeful she is able to use those experiences against top opposition in France to help improve a squad continuously moving in the right direction.

“I am excited to see her fit in with the group and hope she can play her part in bringing further success to the club in 2024/25.”
